Don Pepín García Clásico 20th Anniversary: A Milestone Worth Marking

The Don Pepín García Clásico 20th Anniversary celebrates two decades of the Don Pepín García Cuban Classic, often called the Black Label. It honors a line closely associated with the family’s early reputation for bold, Nicaraguan character.

Crafted in Nicaragua using tobaccos grown on García family estates, this release is a Nicaraguan puro, meaning its wrapper, binder, and filler all come from Nicaragua. It is presented in a single 6½ × 52 Toro size, with production limited to 2,500 boxes of 20 cigars. Each box includes a commemorative My Father cutter, adding a thoughtful finishing touch to the anniversary presentation.

Its published tasting profile leans into the darker, more robust side of the portfolio. Holt’s describes a full-bodied cigar with black pepper and cedar, followed by leather, cocoa, and spice, with hints of anise on the finish. My Father Blue: A New Chapter in Honduras

The Blue is back at ASH, and there is more to this cigar than its distinctive packaging.

Introduced in 2025, My Father Blue was the inaugural release from the García family’s new Honduran factory. For a company so closely associated with Nicaraguan tobacco, it represented a meaningful expansion: growing tobacco on its own Honduran land and producing cigars in its own factory in El Paraíso.

The blend features a Connecticut Broadleaf Rosado wrapper over Honduran binder and filler grown at Finca La Opulencia, the family’s first farm in Honduras. My Father describes Blue as medium-to-full-bodied, and the line is offered in four box-pressed sizes.

Even the presentation tells part of the story. The blue packaging references the Honduran flag, while Roman numerals on the secondary band mark 2025, the year of the cigar’s debut. Those details connect the cigar to the place and moment behind its creation.

Published reviews suggest several directions to explore in its flavor profile. Casas Fumando’s review emphasizes chocolate, earth, pecan, brown-sugar-like sweetness, and developing spice. Leaf Enthusiast highlights cedar, grassy notes, and pepper. Rather than treating those notes as a checklist, consider them an invitation to notice how Blue differs from the My Father blends you already know.

Following Blue’s introduction, My Father La Lealtad adds another expression to the family’s Honduran production. Its name translates to “The Loyalty,” reflecting the brand’s connection to its craft, traditions, and the smokers who have supported it.

La Lealtad takes a different approach to the blend. An Ecuador Rosado Oscuro wrapper surrounds Honduran and Nicaraguan binder and filler tobaccos grown on García family farms. Where Blue centers its internal blend on Honduras, La Lealtad brings Honduran and Nicaraguan tobaccos together.

My Father places La Lealtad in the three-quarter-to-full-bodied range, emphasizing richness and intensity alongside balance. It belongs in the conversation for smokers who appreciate a fuller profile, rather than being presented as a mild introduction to the brand.

Holt’s tasting notes emphasize earth and spice, with coffee and cocoa also appearing in the profile. That gives it an appealing range of darker flavors and spice to explore, while keeping a different identity from Blue.

For someone who enjoys comparing blends, these two Honduran-made cigars create a particularly interesting conversation. The same family and country of production do not mean the same cigar.
